Gluten Free Sugar Cookies

This sugar cookie recipe is fantastic!  We have enjoyed it for years.   It is super simple and easy to make.  I have always enjoyed baking these with my children.   I had to giggle when Bekah and I were rolling these cookies out and later icing them with pink frosting and adding sprinkles to them.  My husband, Dave,  kept asking when they would be ready so he could be our official ‘taste tester’.  What is it with men and pretty, iced sugar cookies?!

Gluten Free Sugar Cookie Recipe

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 Tbs. of milk or cream
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 3/4 cup Auntie’s GF flour blend, plus 2 tsp.

Mix in a separate bowl salt, baking powder and GF flour blend.  Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.  Add egg, mil or cream and vanilla.  Add flour mixture.  Form into a ball and chill at least one hour.

Roll a portion of dough on a lightly floured counter.  Cut out dough using floured cookie cutters.  Place on greased cookie sheet and bake for 7 to 10 minutes at 350 degrees.

Cool completely and then ice.  Don’t forget the sprinkles!

Icing:  Melt one stick of butter.  Add one box powdered sugar, stir.  Add milk, cream or canned milk to achieve desired consistency.  Add vanilla to taste.

    How much vanilla do we use for the cookies? It’s not listed in the ingredients.
